How to protect a copyrighted content on-line

Protecting a publication from illegal copy is crucial to distribute it on-line. Common protecting systems are based on Digital Rights Management but these systems are somewhat expensive on installation, managment and support, moreover, they impose some limits and duties to the user  (like registering at third party). The main limit is that the user cannot use its purcased product from everywhere, but only from one or two specific personal computers. The traditional e-book is crypted first and then delivered to its buyer. The plus consisting on  keeping the document in the own computer is made useless from the impossibility to read it from every place.
Also e-books based on this technology do not solve the main problem: it is always possible to grab the images from the screen and then to assemble them in another format (for ex. a pdf made of captured screen images). A lot of softwares can make this really simple to do.

Smartpaper.info faces the problem of document protection from another point of view.

Smartpaper.info allows to browse a document in a double page preview that normally it allows to read only the main titles. The progressive zoom feature optimizes the time needed to download the page in high resolution, so that it is shown instantly. In such a mode it is not possible to capture the entire page because it is shown only one piece a time. Capturing single pieces of the page and assembling later is an impossible work hard to do because it can be made only manually.
The user browser cache will contain only little pieces of pages.

Here it is what is in the user cache after a Smartpaper.info reading.

It is clear that an assemble of this kind of puzzle is really difficult to realize, surely it is much more difficult that reassembling an e-book protected with the DRM technology. Moreover the size of pieces can be choosen from very small, small and middle. The user does not have to register itself at third party, and it will be able to access to its purchased contents from everywhere. Probably it will share its account with some other friends, but it is just what happens in the real world with real magazines or books (they will be available only to a restricted area of people), and by simply limiting the number of accesses is a real good way to stop completely this last little abuse.

That's why Smartpaper.info is a candidate to become a new standard on delivering  copyrighted publishings on-line.
